Made from raw cotton, this lounge seating is specifically designed and manufactured for the exhibition use—less: slow fashion against lavishness and ugly clothing. “Buy less, choose well, make it last” is the patroness Vivienne Westwood’s message to the visitors. Nested in a harbour building in Bremen—formerly a major trading point for cotton—the exhibition shows students works on how to avoid lavishness in fashion industry and produce garments with people and environment in mind.
Inspired by that, I designed and build Another use–less chair together with Johannes Tasche. In fact, residual materials from the graduate’s fashion shows were used in combination with natural, raw cotton. Each chair comes with the cotton’s label underneath, allowing to trace back its origin.
